Merchandise design for Rakugo performer.

My university reached out to me asking if I wanted to design some merchandise for a famous rakugo performer, Tatekawa Shinosuke. The merchandise would be sold at the venue and online. He always requests for an interesting twist to the design.

The performance he did was based off of a kabuki play called “Kanadehon Chushingura”. Where the play utilized the old layout for the Japanese alphabet and in the alphabet there is a secret message. I wanted to incorporate a game into the design so i had one side with the alphabet and the other side dots in the lay out of the alphabet but certain dots were colored red. By looking at both sides you were supposed to crack the code and figure out what my secret message I hid said.
